Google IO 2026
MOTION DESIGN
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Overview
Google I/O is a global stage where complex technology, software architecture, and future-defining AI concepts are introduced to the world. For the 2026 event, I worked with the team at Modicum within an enterprise-level motion design system and templates to animate high-visibility presentations for the main stage keynotes.
The Challenge & Role
Keynote design at this scale is an exercise in distilling abstract, highly technical data into clean, fluid, and visually compelling narratives that can capture a global audience. Working under the intense, fast-changing deadlines of a live tech event, my role focused on translating intricate AI science workflows, technical product announcements, into premium on-screen animations.
By bridging the gap between deep brand architecture and cinematic motion storytelling, the resulting graphics maintained strict visual continuity across massive screen formats while preserving the clarity and momentum of the live keynote presentations.
ANIMATING THE STAGE CANVAS
When dealing with complex global data like climate modeling, motion was key to unlocking the story. I partnered closely with the design team, and took their cohesive, multi-layered static carousel layouts and storyboards to build out the motion sequences.
My focus was pairing the perfect visual rhythm, speed, and pacing to support the speaker's live presentation and script.
SCALING THE NARRATIVE:
For this high-visibility segment, the design and motion sequence focused on amplifying the speaker's narrative regarding AI-driven research tools. The graphics were architected to scale beautifully across the massive main-stage screens, using bold typography, clean framing, and deliberate pacing to give the presentation’s script breathing room and emotional weight.
STORYBOARDING & EXECUTION
Collaborating closely with senior design leads and Art Directors, I transformed initial scripts and conceptual storyboards into premium, stage-ready animations. My role was to bring dynamic motion to static layouts, ensuring complex AI and product narratives evolved seamlessly on screen while adhering strictly to the larger event design system.
